Staff Accountant for a full-time opportunity with a growing accounting firm based in San Luis Obispo. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for several client’s accounting with the guidance and review of a firm Principal.

You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. You will produce monthly financials with thorough financial analyses for clients. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, Financial Forecasts, and Budgets.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial statement analyses for management reporting.
- Perform the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in standardizing, improving, and automating business processes and accounting policies.
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses, sales, benefits, and payroll.
- Record monthly bank and credit card transactions.
- Manage accounts payable processing and expense reports.
- Assist with the preparation of state and local sales tax returns.
- Assist with year-end payroll and 1099 reporting.
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Intermediate to Expert level Excel user
- Fundamental knowledge of accrual versus cash accounting
- Detail and deadline-oriented
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong intrapersonal and communication skills
- Able to work on your own and in teams
- Able and willing to work in the San Luis Obispo office in safe, socially distanced space
