Cal Poly's Agribusiness Department produces future leaders in agribusiness and beyond. Upon graduation, students have the interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving and applied business skills that are required for successful careers with regional, national and international agribusiness industries, the firms and organizations that support those industries, and in multiple pursuits outside of those industries. The Cal Poly Agribusiness undergraduate program combines strong quantitative training with classes in sales, marketing, and human resource management. In addition, students have multiple opportunities to engage with industry partners providing a well-rounded education that prepares students for success on day one after graduation. The Cal Poly Agribusiness program equips students with:
- Strong data literacy and quantitative skills with applications to accounting, finance, economics, decision making and risk management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills for sales, marketing, personnel management and other non-quantitative fields.
- Strong relationships with industry partners through opportunities to engage in state and national competitions, internships, and trade shows.
- A grounded, real-world education through a curriculum that emphasizes “learn-by-doing” and involves multiple guest speakers from industry.
