Mendocino County Farm Bureau (MCFB) is a non-profit, membership driven advocacy organization whose purpose is to: protect, promote, and solve problems facing agricultural interests, throughout the county.
Job Summary
The Deputy Executive Director position is the second highest-ranking staff member of Mendocino County Farm Bureau and reports directly to the Executive Director. The position requires in-office work and occasionally work outside the office; remote work may be allowable.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure policies and directives set by the organization’s Board of Directors (Board) are carried out.
• Represent MCFB effectively and persuasively to elected officials, Farm Bureau members, the media, and the community at large.
• Develop an understanding of Farm Bureaus structure at the county, state, and national level.
• When requested: research, develop, and draft information on issues, problems, and regulations to assist the Executive Director and Board.
• Supervise office staff in a cooperative manner in the absence of the Executive Director.
• Work with the Executive Director and Finance committee in preparing an annual budget.
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism while representing the Farm Bureau.
• Work collaboratively with other staff, Board, industry groups and community groups to promote and grow MCFB membership.
• Work with committee chairs to report committee recommendations to the Board.
• Maintain a good working relationship with Mendocino County administrators, staff, and all elected officials.
• Maintain a good working relationship with the media and act as a media source when needed.
Required Knowledge and Skills
• Excellent English communication skills including the ability to read and summarize material in a broad range of professional publications. The ability to write clear, concise, and compelling reports. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Farm Bureau leadership, members, elected officials and the public.
• Fluency in a second language other than English is a plus.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings.
• Demonstrate work ethic, strong people skills and a positive attitude.
• Have a knowledge and personal proficiency in the use of software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, and the basic ability to perform website edits.
• The ability to work on multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
• Possess a currant valid driver’s license.


Compensation and Benefits
• Salary Range $60,000 to $80,000, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skill level.

• Company cell phone or monthly stipend.
• Two weeks (80 hours) vacation after the first year of employment.
• Six days (48 hours) of paid sick leave per calendar year.
• Holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the following day, Christmas Eve Day, and Christmas Day.
