Compensation: $65,000 – $72,000 Annual Salary + Benefits (100% Health Coverage)

About the Role:
Under the direction of the Vineyard Manger, the Viticulture Technician/Supervisor performs various vineyard operations including; evaluation of irrigation system, data collection, IPM scouting, maturity sampling and other vineyard tasks which may be assigned on a seasonal basis.
This position plays a vital role in training employees and will assist the Vineyard Manager in the supervision of seasonal workers in the performance of data collection, such as; vine counts, bud counts, petiole samples, pressure bombs and harvest maturity samples. Other tasks include assistance in special projects and harvest. The viticulture supervisor is a role model for other employees and promotes a positive, efficient and safe work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the Vineyard Manager achieve or exceed budgetary and wine grape quality goals including:
• Ensure that the work of viticulture staff and seasonal workers is performed safely, efficiently and in keeping with the highest quality standards.
• Provide close supervision of FLC (Farm Labor Contractor) crews and validate piece rate counts.
• Assist the Vineyard Manager in maintaining high standards in the production of quality wine grapes and operations of the vineyards.
• Assist the Vineyard Manager with pest control scouting.
• Keep shop, equipment and all work areas clean and free of unnecessary items.
• Perform routine maintenance on vineyard equipment as directed by the Vineyard Manager. Report all other maintenance or safety issues promptly.
• Performs weekly scouting.
• Manages scouting and data collection
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Vineyard farming experience
• Bachelor of Science degree in farming related field or equivalent education with prior management positions held.
• Certified Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Proven success working with others
• Record Keeping Skills
• Basic Math Skills
• Ability to communicate and write in English and Spanish
Physical Demands
Must be physically able to perform the tasks mentioned above which would include: Standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling.
Work Environment
This job is primarily outdoors, and does require working in mud, dirt, water, and other weather and environments that are inherent in jobs that involve working in ranch or farm environment, such as, wind, sun, rain, hail, and snow.
