This position will be integral to the growth of River Partners’ Conservation Lands Program
and responsible for managing River Partners’ non-restored real estate assets with the
objective of maintaining a positive cash flow. Today, River Partners owns and manages
over 6,500 acres across the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. Our Acquisitions Team is
looking for someone to help us grow our network of conservation lands, manage our
portfolio in wildlife-friendly farming and assist with transitioning lands out of production
farming and into habitat. This position will oversee contractual leasing and management
activities on over 3,000 acres of River Partners’ conservation properties in close
coordination with River Partners’ Operations Team. The management portfolio currently
includes walnuts, rice, row crops, dairy lands and facilities, and residential homes. Within
the first year, it is expected this portfolio of management may grow to include up to 10,000
acres. This position will also be responsible for managing real estate taxes and property tax
exemptions in coordination with the Finance Team.
This position will play a critical role in supporting transition of lands into long-term
stewardship, requiring the hired candidate to build relationships with agency land
managers and Tribal entities. The Lands Manager will manage existing partnerships with
non-profit and state programs that support hunting programs on River Partners’ lands and is
expected to grow hunting and other recreational access programming for the organization.
Many Tribes access River Partners’ lands. This position will be the lead point of contact to
coordinate Tribal use for collections and native plant material gathering. Broadly, this
position will manage all access agreements and facilitate permitted public use of River
Partners’ properties.
In addition to on-the-ground land management responsibilities, this position will work with
the Acquisitions Team to analyze potential property management needs to inform our
decisions to purchase land. Finally, this position will maintain a database of water use on
River Partners lands and be responsible for reporting to the State Water Board and
separately to the Finance Team to support reporting obligations to corporations for their
environmental, social and governmental (ESG) needs.
