Position Summary
Water Engineer is responsible for performing professional and technical engineering duties as
required for water systems. Duties include preparation of water system plans, specifications,
engineering studies, mapping, surveys, reports, and environmental assessments. In addition, the
Water Engineer may serve as a project manager for the planning, design, and construction of
projects. Some projects and duties will require the Water Engineer to coordinate/interact with other
departments, outside contractors and vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Performs field investigations, inspections and design analysis for water and irrigation systems.
 Performs engineering design and scientific calculations, performs design work, preliminary
analysis, and layout under the supervision of project managers.
 Contacts vendors, develops scopes of work, gets bids, and forwards information to
subcontract administrator.
 Prepares field reports, internal correspondence and sections of formal reports with supervision
and review of project managers.
 Follows company safety standards and site safety standards.
 Gathers data; prepares charts, maps, field diagrams, and schematics.
 Technical skills include hydraulic analysis, construction cost estimation, design of hydraulic
structures, drafting, and technical report writing.
 Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
 Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline: Civil or Ag Engineering. With 1-3
years experience working in the agriculture sector preferred.
Other Qualifications
 Skilled in basic or standard field procedures and techniques.
 Experienced in writing technical studies and reports, collecting field data, and writing
internal correspondence preferred.
 Knowledge in computer word processing, spreadsheet, AutoCAD, and database
programs, preferred.
 Good oral and written communication skills.
 Must have a current valid California Drivers License, and eligible to drive within the J.
G. Boswell Company Driving Policy.
Language Skills
 Ability to understand and speak English.
Reasoning Ability
 Must be able to work as part of a team.
 Must be observant, organized and detail oriented.
 Must function well in a fast-paced environment.
