SUMMARY: The Production Intern is responsible for various farming tasks. This position will focus on ag support services at Nunes Vegetables, Inc. This is a temporary internship during the summer months in Salinas, CA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities, which may be assigned.
• Design fields for tender leaf plantings
• Assist with all plantings both direct see and transplant
• Maintain organic seed inventory
• Flag and GPS plantings to maintain accuracy and good recordkeeping for outside customers
• Drive tractor as necessary
• Assists with food safety sampling
• Drive pilot truck for moving equipment
• Perform routine maintenance to transplant/direct seed planters

• The position requires bending and stooping, especially when maintaining in-ground irrigation systems, so candidates should be in good physical shape.

• Production Interns spend the majority of their working hours outside in the open air in all temperatures and conditions.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electric shock.
• Noise level in the work environment is outdoor and moderate.
